Seckford seniors’ section comprises more than 100 over 55s enjoying a great programme of matches, competitions and social golf. We have an on-line booking system and this allows participation in all club competitions, not just senior events.

There is an informal ‘roll-up’ every Wednesday morning; regular medal, stableford and cup competitions; a schedule of 32 home and away friendly matches with clubs throughout the County; all providing plenty of opportunities for friendly seniors’ golf. There is a simple informal insurance scheme for the seniors to cover the inevitable cost of achieving a hole-in-one. For the payment of £5 from time to time the personal cost of the drinks bill is covered by the fund. (This in respect of official seniors’ events only and there are a few holes-in-one achieved each year by seniors!)

The friendly matches give an opportunity to play at other courses in Suffolk for the price of a post-match meal and our home games provide a chance to welcome visitors to our delightful course. Teams are picked on the basis of those wishing to play, not on handicaps, and up to 60 members have participated in matches on an annual basis. The seniors also take part in two county competitions, the Beaumont and the Parks. The internal competitions include the Senior Championship, Winter and Summer doubles and singles tournaments, various trophies and charity events.
